whats up guys my name is Benny Rudansky. I am starting a blog because i have a LOT to say about a LOT of things. I am a student at The premier culinary school in the country and one of the best in the world. I am an avid sports fan and follow all 4 of the major american sports religiously. While we are on the topic of religion i am an Orthodox Jew, The only one in my school. I am 22 years old and I will graduate in 12 weeks. I am extremely opinionated and I love to discuss anything from sports to philosophy and obviously cooking. I absolutely love what I do and plan to do it for the rest of my life. I have had many different experiences with many different people in my life. At 15 I moved from New York after I had a “mutual parting” from my first high school. I graduated from high school and moved to South Florida. At that point the extent of my culinary experience was working in camp kitchens and and canteens. I got my first job at a legit restaurant when i was 17. Chef Kevin Goode at Shem Tovs in Miami beach gave me a chance to work in his kitchen. I was the youngest cook by at least 15 years. I worked there for 1 year before returning to NY to start college. To make a long story short, I bounced around for a few years accomplishing next to nothing and it sucked. I was broke, aimless and miserable. One day I said enough is enough and applied to the top culinary school in the country. Shockingly i got in. To be clear I did not come close to having the requisite GPA but i wrote several essays about my life experience and impressed someone somewhere. I started school in September 2015 and i have not looked back. I have been trained by the best in the industry in an array of different subjects. I have studied cuisines from every corner of the planet and learned to cook almost all of them. I recently completed a 6 month school mandated externship at the Harbor Grill in Surfside, Florida. It was incredible experience. Harbor Grill is one of if not the most successful kosher restaurants in south Florida. The Head Chef David Benrey is an incredible chef but perhaps more importantly a great teacher and mentor. For 6 months he helped me become a better Chef and employee. His tutelage has a major impact on what I am and what I hope to become as a chef. I am gonna try to post here regularly and interact with you guys as much as possible. To be honest I do not know the first thing about blogging or how to use this website. In fact there is a button next to where I am typing that says video embed, I was 99% sure that means watching a movie before i go to sleep :). Anyway I am going to try to figure this out so I know what the hell I am doing. Thanks for hearing me out.
